Method for increasing light load efficiency in buck converters

Use of buck converters for stepping down voltages as a replacement for linear regulator is increasing. Due to their minimal losses, buck converters have improved efficiency. The main goal of this thesis is to further improve efficiency at light load without altering any of the passive components in the system. To improve light load efficiency, the use of lower frequency switching operation for lower current operation is used. To minimize the loop disturbance at high load current, the seamless transition to a higher frequency is implemented.
