Light-cone quantization of superstrings

I review the derivations of equations of motion for open bosonic and supersymmetric strings using the Polyakov action. I perform standard calculations on Lorentz generators and Virasoro operators, and derive the numbers of states corresponding to allowed mass values for bosons. I then review the principles of supersymmetry and introduce fermionic states, including the Ramond and Neveu-Schwarz sectors. I present a brief overview of and comparison between the Type IIA and IIB superstrings.
