Assessing the professional expectations of interior design majors

The purpose of this study was to assess the professional expectations of interior design majors who will entering the field of interior design in the near future. A questionnaire was given to a convenience sample of 107 junior, senior, and graduate students at San Francisco State University and Associate of Arts and Interior Design Certificate students at Canada College. Overall, student expectations aligned with what was reported by professionals, which is a good indication that students have a good sense of what the profession is like.
