Israeli/Palestinian contestation: a case for why the United States is solely responsible for the peace impasse

Given the ongoing impasse between the Israeli/Palestinian conflict,the end of which is not insight, I attempt to demonstrate who and what is responsible for the peace impasse that has lasted for over five decades. In my quest to understand the complexity of this quagmire, I choose the culminating topic that would help me search for the answer to my question: How can the United States claim to be an independent interlocutor between these two parties and yet have a lopsided and unwavering financial and military support for one of the parties? There is an ample of empirical evidence that supports my hypothesis that the United States should be held responsible for the peace impasse in part because of its unbridled support for Israel. And for not using, it’s financial and military leverage to compel Israel to capitulate to negotiating an enduring peace deal or lose its backing. I will also turn to theoretical narrative and delineate the nexus of the struggles of emancipation of the oppressed and the disenfranchised. By highlighting the South African apartheid state struggle of emancipation as a comparable case study to the Palestinian quest for independence, and it’s right for statehood. I will submit that the United States holds the single most important card that could lead to an enduring peace deal between the Israeli and the Palestinian given its leverage and its deep financial and military support to the Israeli government. Instead, it chooses to support the bellicosity of Israeli government and its apartheid policies, over a peace deal between the parties.
