Orff-Schulwerk in the urban middle school classroom

This is a project that will look at effective ways of utilizing the Orff-Schulwerk pedagogy in an ensemble setting in an urban middle school. Often viewed as a teaching tool for early childhood and elementary grades, Orff Schulwerk will be shown in this creative work project to be a successful means for bringing the diverse student body into an ensemble setting of a middle school classroom and address social emotional learning as well as serving as a tool for social justice. This project will include a curriculum that will help other urban middle school music educators utilize this methodology.
