Multi-channel medical image reconstruction using fusion frames

The scanning speed of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) with a single sensor has come close to its physical limit. Recently much attention has been focused on scanning in parallel using multiple sensors. Such a multi-channel scheme has two typical effects: The first effect comes from the physical location of the sensors, which creates partial images. The second effect is due to downsampling, where aliasing is introduced into the image. The goal of this work is to fuse the multichannel data into one complete image. Such an image fusion problem fits naturally in the framework of fusion frames. Three methods of image reconstruction from multi-channel data are presented using frame and fusion frame theory. Two of the methods produce exact reconstructions, while the third gives a faster, iterative approximation.
