Gender and national identity in Saudi Arabia

This research strives to capture how female identity is gradually changing in Saudi Arabia. By tracing the identity narrative through narrative analysis of official statements, public perception and social media, the research showcases the construction of women’s identity and the effect of their identity change. Analyzing gender and national identity in terms of women’s rights, economic progress, women’s agency and their participation in political reforms provides an understanding of women’s national identity. This research depends on primary data that are paramount in detecting patterns and trends that helped explain contemporary Saudi women’s identity. The result of this research is an examination of an evolving identity that has withstood the changes of today’s world and continues to stand strong.
