Symphony no. 2

This piece is comprised of five different sections that are each represented by a different character which together help to create a dramatic story. The first section is in a calm, peaceful mood. It represents the calm before the storm. The second section is scherzo-like in two parts o The strings are mostly playing spiccato while the woodwinds instruments utilize a fast, scale like motive which comes from the beginning of the first section. The third and longest section creates a feeling of tension. The storm finally calms and the woodwinds and brass instruments are fighting with strings, which sustains the storm-like tension that resolves in the fourth section, like bringing old memories back from faraway, the Echo section brings back the theme of the first section, giving the listener a moment of peace. This all gives way for the fifth and final section. The last section uses the same material as the third section (storm). The reason I named it "Battle" is because the piece ends on a C major chord, which represents victory.
